Portable FIFA at its FinestMay 09, 2008
By Paul Stuart
""...also I'll brush my teeth and remember to turn off the stars at night and put the hyena out." ERN"
At a risk of stating the obvious, the FIFA series has certainly had its fair share of ups and downs over the years. While always beautiful on the eyes and ears, the FIFA line likewise featured a fair slew of scoring cheats, long load times and management flaws. No wonder the 'FIFA vs. PES' debate continues to live on.
In FIFA 08, however, EA finally hit paydirt. The game's rock solid artificial intelligence plus physics-based control scheme - at last! - puts the series on par with the realism of Konami's offering. You're going to have to earn every goal in FIFA 08, and simultaneously note individual player skillsets, right/left foot dynamics and pitch condition. Last, star player skill moves are both easy to execute while realistic in their likelihood of success.
Thankfully, 08 didn't neglect FIFA's audio/video legacy in accomplishing the above. The player models - even on the PSP - look sharp, ditto the eclectic international soundtrack powering it. Play-by-play remains a FIFA strength, the same for crowd chants and ambiance.
In sum: if ever there was a FIFA title deemed a 'must purchase,' this one is it. It is a strong upgrade over 07, moreover plays like a dream across several platforms. (The PS3 version is a sight to behold.)

great gameJan 23, 2008
By kpl2 i would definitely suggest this game if you are a fan of soccer. the only negative i would bring up is the fact that there is a feature that will automatically switch to a player that is closer to the opposing teams player with the ball. its a great idea but it can be annoying when you are moving one way with a player towards the guy with the ball and suddenly it changes to someone else and your going the wrong way because it switched. luckily it can be turned off. the only flaw i have found in the game is that the comments made by the announcers don't always correspond with what actually happens or it is said after the fact.

By David Castillo Dominici I just keep on playing this game and never get tired, im a big fan of European teams and have the best players in a great teams.
Youll never get tired of making goals. Its a little bit difficult to make it, so that makes it more interesting.
Highly recommended

The control of players has been greatly improved compared to 07, but sometimes it's still too stiff, not very real. Overall, I would recommend this game, but maybe not at $40 a piece, i think it should be cheaper.

Go for GoalMay 05, 2009

This game is a must have for the soccer fan on the go. The user interface is easy to navigate, and the game itself is a lot of fun. Take control of your favorite time and become their manager. Do have what it takes to guide them to the cup? Manage them from the ground up, make trades, lend them out to other clubs, and build a powerhouse to last years. If you don't have this game, then you are no soccer fan.
