Good Fun, Great LookingNov 23, 2006
By slugbone I've had this game for about a month now, and it is a lot of fun for those that want a more realistic oval racing experience. It's not for everyone though. If you are looking for crazy wrecks and more intense action, I recommend Burnout Legends over this game.
Strengths:
You can jump right in and play without having to worry about elaborate car setups or qualifying. There are many tracks to choose from and you don't have to "go through the ranks" to race with the big boys. You can choose among all the Nextel Cup drivers or create your own car with personalized paint schemes. You can save at any time during the race and you can select a short, medium or long race. This saves you much aggrivation if you wreck, you can just quit and go back to the last time you saved.
The graphics and sound are excellent. With a good set of headphones you will definitley be immersed in the game and the the wide screen really makes the game come alive. The AI is quite good, and driving like a maniac will get you on the bad side of other drivers real quick. They will remember and retaliate later in the race, by blocking your pass or spinning you out from behind. You can make alliances too and those drivers will help you draft and work with you during the race
Weaknesses:
The steering is touchy and unforgiving even when you get used to it. Even a little bumping and banging can spin you out and put you at the back of the pack fast. It makes it much more realistic, but you won't have that wild action that you get from Burnout. In the Race Now mode you always start somewhere in the middle of the pack. This can get frustrating, especially in the truck series, where it is very hard to work your way to the front.
Overall very solid game worth buying, the season mode is fun and if you are more of a gear head you can set up the car the way you like it adjusting springs, tire pressure, etc...a good game and nice change of pace from some of the crash & burn type racing games out there.

Beautiful graphics and control. The game is better playing in Ad hoc with friends. Only con is that no infrastucture mode is available.

By Madmax For max enjoyment of NASCAR, start with the modifieds to learn the steering, then progress to the cup cars. Pretty cool game, all in all, I bought this game while in hospital and the first coupla days my nurses bitched at me for playing at 2 am, guess they felt i should have been sleeping

This game is pretty good. and it was back when things were better in nascar. all the manufacters have differnt shapes, unlike the car of today i guess they call it now. its really good once you get the hang of it. the handleing of the cars are alot differnt then those of newers versons of nascar. such as nascar 09 on xbox. overall its worth it. its very hard to find in stores as well. THANK YOU AMAZON!
Speaking From a Girl That's Not a Nascar FanJun 29, 2009
By gamingfanatic I first got this game for Christmas (same time I got a PSP) and I really didn't want to try it. So I started playing Death Jr and leaving Nascar to the side. This was because I wasn't big on Nascar games at all. Maybe it was because I played all the wrong racing games, but I just wasn't a fan. To me, Nascar looked a lot like going around an oval track about a billion times, I was more interested in Mario Kart. I ESPECIALLY did NOT like realistic racing games-it was just way too hard to not crash into a wall while going at insane speeds. When I first popped this into my PSP, I was NOT expecting what I got. It is by far one of the best PSP games I own (no, I do NOT have a crappy collection!).
The graphics are AMAZING. Even though I'm not big on graphics, these are just too big of a plus to not mention. At first, it was way to hard for me, but that was jut because I wasn't that much used to racing games, so it took a while to get used to. The New York track (for me) was the hardest of all tracks, and it felt like I accomplished something when I finished first place. It's not too easy, nor to hard, and the songs get stuck in your head after a while (which is a good think) even though I was only familiar with one song when I got it.
If you get this game, you will seriously not regret it.
