5An amazing must-have game for your PS2Nov 16, 2003
By Lisa Shea "medieval swordfighting enthusiast"
I'm a HUGE huge fan of Ratchet and Clank. As soon as Going Commando game out we grabbed a copy - and have been playing it non-stop ever since! Talk about a great sequel!

The plot and gameplay is similar to the first game - you're going from planet to planet, bashing things, gathering up nuts and bolts and finding some INCREDIBLY fun weapons along the way. Even better, if you still have your memory card from the first game, you get to bring in many weapons from that for free.

If you didn't play Ratchet & Clank I, I *really* recommend you get it! It should be super-cheap by now and is great fun. It's not required to understand this second game, though.

This game is almost like 20 games in one. There are pod-racing like portions where you challenge on faster and faster tracks. There are gladiator arena fighting where you test your strength and endurance. There are spaceship flying sections like Wing Commander where you fly through asteroids and around corners. There are button-combos and logic puzzles and really funny video clips.

There are the skill points that you have to guess at and then execute. Each weapon upgrades to a new super version of itself. You really feel like you're making progress as you move through the game, becoming stronger and further along in the plot. Going back to planets is great fun, too, as you find ways to use your new weapons in fun ways.

The game is also great on an entire-family sort of way. There's a lot of fun puns that will go right over the heads of the kids, but in general the game can be great fun for everyone. The kids can hand the controller to the adults if they get stuck, and the adults will have just as much fun as the kids did (and may not give the controller back for a while).

There's always something fun to do, and if you want a change from what you're doing, just hop into one of the mini-games for a whole different experience. The game can literally go on forever. Highly, highly recommended as a must-have for any PS2!

5Insomniac has out done themselves!!Oct 23, 2003
By Dawn R. Howdyshell
In todays age of gaming having games w/tons of blood, gore, guns and foul language, it's wonderful to have Insomniac Games make a game that, although rated a T, kids under the age of 10 can play. Yes, it has guns, but they're more the ACME sort from Looney Tunes compared to the realistic sounding guns in Jak II. And, you're shooting aliens/robots, not real people like in Jak II and other games. Ratchet and Clank 2 is bigger all the way around... more weapons/gadgets, bigger levels, more things to do than even the first Ratchet and Clank. I've played the first game COUNTLESS times and I know I will Ratchet and Clank 2. I highly recommend it as a game for the whole family and I have a 6 year old son who plays it too. I can let him play and not worry that he's going to want to go out and shoot someone. It's not the type of game to have to worry about what bad habit your child is going to pick up from it. Thank you Insomniac Games!!

5insomniac picks it up.Jan 20, 2004

i really love rachet and clank going commando. god the weapons are so much cooler than in the first. youll have tons of awesome weapons at your disposal. theres the lancer- deadly automatic rifal. the blitz gun- powerful shooter. the minirocket tube- big gun that shoots rockets. the bouncer- shoots corkscrew rocks than explode in a small eruption of flames. the ryno 2- unbelivabely hardcore power gun with several holes for bulletshooting a powerhouse of a gun costs 1000000 bolts. all the weapons you carry can be completely upgraded. so use your weapon a lot and it will change to a more powerful form of that weapon. rachet gets bigger and stronger as he fights bad guys as well and his health increases. and the weapons arent the only thing that can be upgraded your ship can be too. youll get to choose diffrent colors and designs for your ship. oh and rachet can now purchase armor. excellent game with excellent weapons. use your wrench a lot and that can also be upgraded. the weapons are simply so shar looking satisfying and fun to use youll wonder why you liked the first games weapons.

5My god, its better than I imagined..Nov 21, 2003
By CP "Commander Rann"
I played the first Ratchet & Clank game to 100% completion. It was so fun that I felt GUILTY selling it! It was OUTSTANDING. This is just as good if not better. No I am not kidding.
-The weapons are better and weapons upgrades are better.
-The cut away / load time screens are actually BETTER & funnier!
-Earning bolts is much improved with progressive battle sequences & races.
-The storyline & voice overs are BETTER.
-The graphics, gameplay, and villains (not who they seem) are improved.
I realize that this review is difficult to digest for fans of the original Ratchet & Clank but they took all the good things of the original and added MORE innovative gameplay...
-It is worth the full price, if you can find it for less more power to you.
-The Brady game guide is essential to finding all the secrets.

5True greatness comes in the form of a creature with big earsNov 13, 2003

I got this game the day it came out *Nov. 11 not 14th, mind you* and well, I just came back from playing it three hours straight. I have the first one and loved it but was devestated at the finish, and heres what i've prayed for... a beautiful sequel with a beautiful RPGish weapon and character buildup system as well as some old weapons and brilliant new and old gadgets. One thing that bugs me last game was the trespasser. That little thing just drove me nuts trying to get correct combinations. Now they made a fun way to do it in form of electrilizer which is like a cool minigame. SPEAKING of minigames, how bout these ones?

Hoverbike racing
Gladiator Arenas
Space rocket firefights
Crane games *use a giant crane to kill enemies*
Spherical worlds *o the brilliant spherical worlds!*

In three of these, you can take on different challenges for bolts and a get even rocket upgrades for those of u into space dogfighting! This game is having me relive what I loved so much from the first one. Plus, there's a high difficulty for u worryin about beating it in shorter time than the first!
But with all the new minigames, it has a sort of haven and beyond good and evil feel to it with all the variety of those games. But they are a small part compared to what takes up a good 80% of the game: ALL OUT ACTION WITH DOZENS OF WEAPONS AND COOL GADGETS WOOOO!!! Also for those of you wanting more Clank and Giant Clank, he's there for ya.*in fact clank appears surprisingly early in the game. Here's the diagnosis.

Graphics: 95%
Gameplay: 100%
Difficulty:Medium- hard
Replay Value: OHH YEAH
Environments and variety: 100%

If you've never played the original Ratchet and Clank, by all means try this game also: The first one isnt as good but if u wanna experience the original blow-stuff-up-a-thon u know what people like me are babbling about! A great buy to keep you occupied worth every cent of the $40 bucks it cost.
