4Take the streets back, on the goOct 28, 2007
By Austin Anderson
SWAT is fast and fun, packed with great amount of action and even better replay value. This is another fun game for the PSP.

PROS:
Level design is well done, highly detailed
Your team AI and enemy AI is smart and never the same twice

CONS:
Short story
Controls take time to adjust to, but still not well done

overall this game gets a 4/5 it actually is more of a 3.5 but it's not a 3 so i gave it a four because of its great AI and replay value.

2eh not so goodNov 02, 2007
By Rob "Rob"
I bought this game thinking it could possibly be like the old PC games S.W.A.T. man was I wrong, The game is alright, but just crap compared to those old PC games. you can control your team fine, but your character, not so much he tends to stay focused on one person then walks backwards until that persons out of view and turns around to walk correctly, a poor game really. if you want to check it out rent, or wait til it drops down to the low prices.

Swat is an interesting game on the psp as it goes for a top down tactical shooter in stead of the fps like the pc. The game gets bonus points for really going with the swat them as its not something thats throwaway able. You lead your team through various missions in various locations to fight terrorism. each teammate having his own straighten and purpose. The swat aspect is well used as i said before. You can give your targets warning before you open fire and are more encouraged to take them down peacefully. As well as cuff innocents. Also to report any dead targets or innocents in. You can't also use deadly force or your penalized. Your heavily rewarded for doing so as you'll get stats and upgrades allowing you to do more. This tactic aspect though really slows down the games pace. having to report every death or cuff gets annoying and you'll run into 3 or 4 targets a room. The targets pop out of really predictable places as well. Just playing a mission the next one you'll be able to predict were they are gonna come out of. The big nail in this coffin is the aiming is bad an inaccurate. There's an auto lock but it's clunky to use as you really gotta be facing them and makes it way to easy. The game is also short banking on the idea you'll play again to level up. over all it's a short predictable shooter with only the mildly interesting swat aspect saving it for a mission or two. if you want a top down shooter i recommend kill zone liberation instead.

4A great transition from the PCMar 29, 2012
By Richard Baker "Gaming Guru"
The Good: Transition from PC to PSP is well done, great production values, good control setup, lots to do, deep tactical game play, fun multiplayer

The Bad: Lock on targeting is a bit finicky, due to POV it's hard to see off-screen targets, a bit of a learning curve for controls

It's weird to play a PC exclusive on a handheld. You're first impression is that it's going to be terrible. In this case Sierra really did a good job. Instead of just a straight port of a previous SWAT game they gave us all new content. Instead of a first person POV it's a top down POV exactly like Killzone: Liberation. What I thought was clever here is instead of being able to see every enemy in every room you must enter it before being able to see who's in there. You can mirror the room and if there are enemies on the other side there will be a green circle but you don't know if it's a civilian or an enemy.

You have all your PC SWAT stuff here such as team member commands. You can tell them where to go by holding down the R button and sending blue and red with square and circle. You can have them restrain people send in reports or head for cover. You can also have them check doors, clear rooms, just like on the PC. The game has a lock on system where you press L and each enemy has a button near them and you press it to lock on to them. I was surprised how well the controls were even though it takes time to get used to. There are plenty of levels to play through and lots of unlockable content such as, real SWAT videos, concept art etc. The game has a fun co-op multiplayer mode for up to 3 people and it's a blast. The graphics are awesome with lots of detail except the levels are extremely linear.

3Its alrightDec 01, 2007
By Alexi Almendarez
When i bought this game, i thought it was like FPS, but no, is more like killzone liberation, a third point of view. I would recomend to rent first. the graphics are alright. It just game lacks it when you lock some one, and then you want to switch targets.
