Silent Hill story and feel, but different gameplay.Mar 24, 2010
By Cramer This story is set just before the infestation that happens/happened to Silent Hill.
I really liked this game, it stands alone from other SHs due to the fact that there's no combat, I repeat, no combat. When you aren't searching for clues as to the whereabouts of your missing daughter, you are in no possible danger.
There are various sequences within the game where your world freezes over and is infested by typical SH creatures. During these "battle sequences" if you can call them that. Your only option is to run for your life through the maze that it Silent Hill.
The game maintains it's creepiness, but I found it less-so than the other games in the series. The good story makes up for the missing fear.
Don't expect your typical SH, but do expect a new type of SH focused more on story than combat.
**Note: Replay value of this game is surprisingly high. The answers you give to your psychiatrist throughout the game, plus the mementos/clues you find shape the story. There are 4 endings, thus far I have achieved 2.
5/5 for fun, because the story is great, and it's a new risk the developers took with the series.
4/5 because it's a good game, but at times I felt like I was just playing a movie, which as good and bad qualities.
5/5 for graphics, some of the best I've seen thus far on my psp
4.5 overall.

And interesting take on a classic.Feb 20, 2011
By Arcana After reading prior reviews on various gaming forums, I almost didn't purchase this game. However, due to curiosity and also to being a hardcore Silent Hill gamer, I changed my mind. I do not regret it. I won't go into details, as I do not wish to spoil anything but I did find this game to be enjoyable. It was fun, but short...incredibly short. I prefer my games to be long but for a gaming platform such as the PSP, the short length of the game was perfect. I do wish that you could've done more than simply "run" from your opponents, but I wasn't bored with the concept once I'd gotten into it. Running away is as much of a challenge as hacking and slashing...maybe more-so. It tends to give you a feeling of helplessnes; perfect for a psychological game of this genre. Again, this isn't Silent Hill 1, 2, or 3...the gameplay is different. I found it refreshing.

What a nightmare.Mar 19, 2010
By Jean Jacques Bohl All I can say is to get the PSP over PS2. And the other thing is that after you play to the ending you will be left it speechless. the last two levels are wtf. You will feel the nightmare.
Silent Hill for the PSP is 0 for 2 for me.Aug 22, 2011
By From Detroit Graphically, the game is good and the voice acting is great. But not once did I feel "scared." There was tension, but not fear. I also didn't like the avenue that the designers took with the game play. Yes, it was a risk, and I take my hat off to them, but it didn't work for me. The play control killed it for me, and the "running away" sequences were just awkward. I'm not saying others won't like it, and it's obviously getting good reviews. If possible, you might want to try it before you buy it. I simply couldn't get immersed in this game, and immersion is what Silent Hill is all about for me.

By Roy Williams One word: Awesome. The fact it changes everytime you play it makes it better. The tests you taking during intervals of gameplay changes how the game will feel and that much is true since i met..well dont wanna spoil it for ya :). Anywho the game is great
