2dissapointingSep 15, 2008
By nightmare "John B."
I'm a huge TNA fan, so I was very excited about this game coming out, but what a waste. No actual character creation. No multi-tap for more than 2 players. The moves are VERY limited. The controls are'nt very user friendly. The story line although cool, is only for some pre-made character, they came up with. And worst of all, my game has a glitch when you try to play a tag match. The tag partner outside the ring gets stuck if you hop off the ring apron(to the point where you can see their head sticking out of the ring.
Over all, a great idea for the best wrestling company in the bussiness, but they should have went with a game designer that had a clue how to make a wrestling game. My only hope is that since this is the first attempt, they will greatly improve on the next one.

2Lackluster production and a rushed productSep 21, 2008

When I went to the store to buy this game, the cashier at the counter said it was one of the best games out there. He said that it played like WWF No Mercy did on N64. So instead of taking his word for it, I rented the game and thank God I did. This game is a waste of the 6 bucks it took to rent it! For starters, you can't do slams, suplexes, or anything else that may wow you from the top rope, there are no moves you can do to double team someone, the only weapons they have for crying out loud are chairs! Furthermore, I am really winded with the tag team section of this game. The one thing that I am impressed with here is the reversal system. That is about it. If I could give it a 1.75 stars, I would because giving it a 2 is being generous. Save your money and get the new SVR 09 when it drops in November.

3Good Idea, But Needs More WorkSep 12, 2008

TNA Impact! is good game based from a great show. The idea of this game is excellent with the rosters (even though there are no Knockouts,) the story mode and the unique match types. This game actually needs work on the controls and reversal techniques. @ this point, I've had this game for two days and I have finally beaten the story mode. I don't really have much to do with this game now that I've finished that mode and unlocked all arenas, hidden TNA stars, and jobbers (which they need to change up their moves in order to distinguish one from another.) The product advertisment for the PS2 were actually false as it said that I can play in modes such as King Of The Mountain, and Full Metal Mayhem. False! Also, there are no championships to play for, let alone a create-a-wrestler mode and legend mode as it was stated. All and all, not a bad game on the first try. I'm actually selling mine right now.

5Not As Bad As People SayDec 07, 2010

This game's not as bad as people are saying. It's actually quite good. The gameplay's good, the action is great. As for people crying, "false advertising" because a CAW feature was mentioned by commercials & not present in this game, the commercials were advertising the PS 3 version, which does have that feature. Even though some PS 3 games do have a PS 2 counterpart, PS 2 games are no longer advertised. Besides, Rumble Roses doesn't have a create-a-wrestler mode and that's a fun game. Of course, it also helps that the women in that game are hot. lol. I think the reason people are complaining about the controls is because they're too used to the WWE Smackdown games. I own & play other wrestling games besides WWE Smackdown. Rumble Roses, Backyard Wrestling, WWF Attitude, so the controls for TNA iMPACT aren't a problem for me. You can't blame a video game for your own difficulty adapting to something new. The Ultimate X match is awesome and there's a great roster. I hope the sequel (it's been confirmed TNA iMPACT! 2 is coming out, due in spring 2011) will include the Lethal Lockdown match. I hope, if they make a PS 2 version, they'll include create-a-wrestler mode. And, hopefully, there will be blood! All-in-all, fun game!

I got the game for cheap so it didn't matter that it wasn't very good. The smackdown games are way better than this game but I think it is at least alright for there first game. It was a let down though that there wasn't a create a wrestler mode. Also there were to many jobbers as unlockables and not enough actual wrestlers, the moves are way to repetative. I am looking forward to someone other than midway to make there next game.
