2Nice try, but ultimately an unsatisfying experienceNov 06, 2007
By J. Gustin
I've been keeping an eye on the development of this game and I was really looking forward to its release. Now that I've had the chance to sit down and play it, I'm afraid it wasn't anything like I thought it would be.

Before I go into any negatives, I will say that the script/spoken dialog in the game is hilarious and features the original cast voices. The character animation is also done nicely. Unfortunately, that is where the positive comments end. The play control is a disaster. It was difficult to control the various special moves for each character and camera tracking was horrible. You can manually reposition the view point being shown, however I found myself constantly needing to do so in order to make my way through the levels. Overall, it just felt like I wasn't in control of the character and often times it was very frustrating trying to jump from platform to platform only to fall down and have to start a tedious process of getting back to where I was at all over again. The constant need to switch between characters became annoying as well. I really, really wanted to love this game, but I am so disappointed. I'm also really upset that I actually paid full price for this title as well. If this was $19.99 I wouldn't feel so burned right now.

3many good points but execution falls downJan 10, 2008
By M. Lioy
I am a relatively new gamer, but a HUGE Simpson's fan and so was very excited about this game. I tried it out, and while it is way cool that they got the real voice actors to do the voices for the characters and the in between videos, and the graphics are also really cool (the characters look almost exactly like they do in the show); I was very disappointed. The main problem is that the game play is extremely difficult. To be clear, it isn't that the game itself is hard, but rather that the camera angle makes it really hard and extremely frustrating to play the game: it seems to always be in the wrong place. Another flaw (from a Wii perspective) is there is very little use of the Wii remotes capabilities. The later is forgivable given that it is a multi-platform game, but the previous is not forgivable (especially from someone like EA), if they had the camera placed correctly the game would be far less frustrating and much more enjoyable.

In short I am glad I was able to try the game out and not have to buy it. It might be worth it to me (for the Simpson's value alone) if the game was $20 dollars or so.

3Fun in spots, but very frustratingJan 22, 2008

I think the developers just took on way too much to create a game that really works well. There are some parts that are very fun, but in general this game is way too frustrating. The camera has serious problems and creates situations in which you can't see what you need to do. Just when you think the game is over, it continues on with some bigger than mini-games which could have been games all on their own. Maybe if the developers didn't try to do so much, they could have worked out some of the kinks and made this a really great game. It certainly has the potential.

5Best. Simpsons. Game. Ever.Nov 03, 2007
By Caggs
If you're a fan of the show, skip this review because you either 1) already own the game or 2) are going to buy it regardless of what the agnst-ridden teenage reviewers on Amazon write about it. Why? Because it features the full Simpsons cast, too many characters to count, and 37 original Simpson short clips.

For non-Simpsons fans, the concept is a lot of fun, but the gameplay can get boring at times. You work with characters and their special abilities to solve puzzles and beat challenges in each level. It's pretty easy, except the controls, like most 3D games, can drive you nuts at certain times. The camera is downright horrible in a handful of places. The visuals are very similar to the show, and the short clips (movies) are spot-on. Most of the later missions are clever parody, though pretty repetitive gameplay.

Update: After a few weeks of playing, I have to say I enjoyed myself, even though I found myself yelling at the television when I couldn't figure out my next move or time a jump exactly right. I adjusted the sensitivity of the X and Y axis on the controller, and that seemed to make a big difference. Co-op play was a clever addition to give the game a good amount of replay value. In fact, co-op is where the game shines. Playing with a partner is literally twice the fun. For the most part, the challenges are entertaining, and the script is a riot. Sure, the first couple of levels are a little too easy, but the game really picks up by the fourth mission. If you're bored early, give it a chance, the game definitely comes around.

I'm a huge Simpsons fan, and so far, the game has met all of my expectations. If I were not a Simpsons fan, I think this game would be more of a renter or a used-buy. It will crack everyone up, fan or not. The short clips are great, and a lot of the in-game dialogue (with the original cast) is witty and comical.

And, I don't want to spoil anything, but if you're still on the fence, let me utter these two words to help you make up your mind:

Mr. Sparkle.

4Funny game!Feb 01, 2010
By A. Schmidt "Illial"
My kids and I laugh a lot when we play this game. It's sort of predictable, but fun because you get comments from the Simpson characters. I did catch Willy cursing in it, so if you wouldn't watch the show, don't get the game. Good for the tween age group.
